My Experience with a Headstrong Customer

The most challenging people I find are those with more rigid thought process. I would not call them unreasonable because it originates from their vast experience and great achievements. My secret sauce for dealing with such people is to be patient and be detailed oriented. In one such incident, I was working with a headstrong customer on an initiative to implement the HCM system. Being a veteran in the field of HR systems, he was super knowledgeable and had some established ideas about these implementations. Initially on the project, when we proposed best possible researched solutions for persistent problems at client organization, all of them were rejected by the director on the ground “It doesn’t happen like that in this organization”. A Change Management Experience

My best change management experience came from a project for healthcare client which grew rapidly in recent past and wanted cognizant to help them setup their IT practice. Due to rapid growth in multiple departments, the organization was not organized about the effort and each department had their own siloed IT practice to help them with day to day activities. Thus, the task was to change the completely unorganized and unitary IT practices into one centralized cost center.  The major goals for this project was to Educate IT sub groups about the change to be made. Execute the change management process in efficient and time bound manner. Ensuring continuity of operations in future. My first actionable item on this project was to collate data. About me (as of Summer 2018)

I like identify myself as an Engineer with a MBA. While academically I have degrees in Management, Data sciences and Engineering, I posses a dominant characteristic  of a technologist. Thus I am a techie who do not look for an invitation for a profitable opportunity. Over the last decade, I was working with companies like Oracle and Cognizant, helping their customers achieve business excellence using technology. I worked majorly with B2B IT products such as Enterprise Resource Planning and Cloud systems. My transition from one organization to another was result of my habit of getting out of my comfort zone to achieve something challenging. While I moved from TechMahindra to Cognizant to Oracle, I moved from being an individual contributor to a team influencer, who successfully implemented a completely new service line for cognizant which resulted in increase of profit of 5% for my department to a holistic technical leader that that took charge of technical product de...
